Adobe
Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop - Industry standard for image editing! |
| While
for many, Adobe Photoshop CS(x) is still the image editing program of
choice, what we're finding in our own work is that Adobe Lightroom has
become the medium we use most often. There are however, still some
features that are available in Photoshop but not in Lightroom which
makes it also a "must have". If your primary dicipline is that of image
editing rather than graphic design then you may find that, instead of
having to buy the full version of Photoshop, Lightroom 3 and Elements 8
will suit your requirements. We have not upgraded yet to CS5 and still
use Photoshop CS4. (Contact

Some Photoshop Keyboard Shortcuts..
H
(Hand Tool): When zoomed in to a portion of your photo, this command
brings up the hand tool which allows for quick panning. Also, if the
hand tool is active and you hold down the Ctrl key, you can zoom in
without changing to the zoom tool. Likewise, if you hold down the Alt
key, you can zoom out without changing tools.
Z (Zoom
Tool): This command just brings up the zoom tool, which allows you to
zoom in. Like with the hand tool, if you hold down the Alt key, it
temporarily switches to the zoom out mode.
Ctrl + 0 (Fit
on Screen): Use this quick-and-dirty command to get the entire photo to
fill the screen. That’s Ctrl + zero, not the letter
“O”.
Ctrl + Shift + 0 (View at actual pixels): Quickly takes the image view
to 100%. Useful for checking sharpness.
B (Brush Tool): The brush is an extremely useful tool when working with
masks.
Ctrl + Z (Undo): Very useful for the little mistakes we all make.
Ctrl + Alt + Z: Multiple undo levels.
Tab
(Hide/Show Palettes): Hiding the palettes gives you a little more
working room, thus decreasing your need to pan and zoom while editing.
Ctrl + “+”: Zoom in.
Ctrl + “-“: Zoom out.
[: Reduce brush size.
]: Increase brush size.
