In
the south of the African continent, where three great countries and two
huge rivers meet, lies a timeless land with a fascinating past. It is a
place of endless horizons and wondrous wildlife, a place that stirs the
imagination and kindles the need to return. This is the Northern Tuli
Game Reserve.
Situated in the
eastern corner of Botswana it is separated from South Africa in the
south by the legendary Limpopo River and from Zimbabwe in the east by
the lesser-known (but equally impressive) Shashe River. It is home to
hundreds of elephants, great herds of antelope, zebra and wildebeest,
giraffe and a variety of predators, including Africa's big cats
– the
lion, leopard and cheetah. It has some 350 bird species, magnificent
old trees, huge skies and dramatic vistas.
Exciting
times lie ahead as the long awaited Limpopo/Shashe Transfrontier Park
comes online. The Northern Tuli Game Reserve is one of the core areas
of the new park, which has the potential of becoming one of the major
tourist destinations in southern Africa.
