Mandla le Lion is a
fluffy lion toy and gets his first name from the Zulu word meaning
power or strength. He heads up the lion populations of Hluhluwe
iMfolozi Park in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa and when not
involved in pride politics consults on media affairs. He is an
"adventure junkie" traveling the world to spread the lion conservation
message and leading various expeditions like the Amazon
Trip. |
 |
Koos Ngonyama
gets his second name from the Shangaan word for lion and hails
from the Timbavati Game Reserve in Limpopo Province, South Africa. He
is an avid film maker and photographer and in charge of quality
control on Roger and Pat de la Harpe's new book on lions. He is also a
firm
supporter of United Against Malaria (UAM) as
you can see from his bead necklace. He will be accompanying Roger and
Pat on many of their escapades to put the lion book together. |
 |
Basil Tau's second name comes from the Setswana name for lion and he prefers
the finer things in life! Previously based at Tswalu Game Reserve in the
Kalahari for many years he gave up the post of Director of Lion
Affairs to move to the city to help promote the survival of the lion species. He
loves ocean cruises (quite strange for a cat...) and is a snappy
dresser preferring nothing more than sipping champagne with the rich
and famous. |
