A young girl in Senegal by Ariadne Van Zandbergen

Ariadne Van Zandbergen

Ariadne is a travel photographer and tour guide whose images of people, wildlife and landscapes span some 30 African countries. Born and raised in Belgium she first visited Africa in 1994 when she undertook a yearlong trip from Morocco to South Africa, deciding to settle here on her eventual arrival. Ariadne's special skill is her capture of Africa's indigenous people – their dress, jewellery, culture and ceremonies. Her photographs are used in various publications worldwide and her book, Africa: Continent of Contrasts, which she produced in conjunction with photographer Martin Harvey, ably illustrates her love for the vibrancy of Africa's many countries.
